July 12th 1979. Not a date that will pop up in anyone's head, I'm sure. But it SHOULD.

This, my friends, was the day that Disco died. Perhaps as a rather brutal riposte for Saturday Night Fever and the roller-disco tinged phenomena that was Disco in the late 70's - a few disgruntled rockers organised Disco Demolition Night in Chicago. After blowing up loads of classic records and generally being hard the night (completely surprisingly) ended in riots and lots of arrests.

The anti-disco brigade even cost the organisers beloved Chicago White Sox a big game due to forfeit. Serves them right. Anyway, fastforward 30 years and it appears that disco is making a comeback.

The intelligent and frankly groundbreaking ....
